GRANDFATHER FROST BLUES (BG)

Early in the morning, face to the East,
Standing under a tree, lowering hands in the source,
Dissolving in the rainbow, trying the taste of the sun;
When the night sets fire falling from the sky flowers,
We will remember this Grandfather Frost Blues.

We went in Venice into one shop –
Grappa drink expensive, let's drink benzine
Let's throw ourselves off bridges, demonstrating skill and taste;
And when the gondoliers will catch us out of the channels –
Of radio in the kitchen will waft Grandfather Frost Blues.

Now we have Kondopoga, now we have Khokhloma,
Fatherland never stint on the causes to go mad...

Cleaving the darkness like a nameless star,
Or in a long winter in mossy bear's corner:
Shining, thrown meaningless load,
We look, as the night sets fire falling from the sky flowers,
And say, "Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye;
Goodbye, Grandfather Frost Blues".
